Dance Performance Opportunities

Performance is an essential part of any dance experience. Every student should avail themselves of as many of the following performance options as possible.

Friends and family are invited to observe class during Visitors’ Week, held three times a year. Check the calendar for the dates.

Every November, we present Dance Mosaic a repertory dance concert showcasing our upper division students and the Metro Dancers company.  It is a diverse program of dance forms, including classical ballet, contemporary, and others.  National, regional, and local choreographers contribute their expertise for an engaging program

Every December between Christmas and New Year’s we offer our annual Little Nutcracker Workshop.  In three days, we produce a miniature version of the holiday classic.  It gives the dancers a chance to perform, wear great costumes and have something engaging to do during their break from school.

Choreographers’ Showcase is an informal program of works, held during Winter Showcase Week at the end of January.  It presents works in progress and finished dance pieces by novice through experienced choreographers.  Every PMA student is welcome to submit works.  The concert is free to all.

Each Spring, our resident dance company, Metro Dancers, presents a full-length ballet production.  Limited parts are available for all PMA dance students, first grade through adult.  Auditions are held in mid-January.

In June we hold our annual Spring Dance Showcase, in which all dancers are invited to perform.  Students wear their class uniform for the performance, so there are no expensive costumes to buy.  It is the high point of the year for our students.
