Babes in Toyland is a whimsical musical filled with all your favorite Mother Goose characters. Victor Herbert’s music adds a fun counterpoint to the silly dialogue and contemporary references in our retelling of this classic story. Come be part of a community theatre production that will whisk the whole family away to “the land you’ll oft recall as the best of all…TOYLAND!”
Come ready to sing, act and dance. No individual material needs to be prepared Babes in Toyland materials provided.
Principal Roles:
Bo Peep– Age Young Adult: Oldest daughter of Old Woman in Shoe owner of several sheep
Simon Simple – Age Young Adult: Toymaker’s assistant who likes Bo Peep
Barnaby-Age Adult: Devious land developer wanting to buy up Toyland
Bertram & Ernest-Age Teen to Adult: Barnaby’s two henchmen and comic relief
Secondary Roles:
Mother Goose-Ageless: Main storyteller and magical being overseeing all of Mother Goose Land
Old Woman in Shoe-Age Adult: Mother of Bo Peep whose home is owned by Barnaby
Toymaker-Age Adult: Master toymaker and main source of employment in Toyland
Jack Peep- Age Child to Teen: Oldest son of Old Woman in Shoe
Jill Peep- Age Child to Teen: Jack Peep’s sister
Miss Muffet- Age Child to Teen: Sister to Jack & Jill
Mary Lamb- Age Child: Sister to Jack & Jill
