Each season, in early February, PMA Musical Theatre presents an engaging production with a seasonal theme.  Our repertory includes an adaptation of the classic Babes in Toyland and two original works, Winter in the Willows and The Tale of McGregor’s Farm.  These enchanting musical productions provide a wonderful performance opportunity for actors, singers and dancers of many ages and a delightful moment at the theatre for the entire community.  Auditions are generally held at the end of October.  PMA Musical Theatre is a joint program Portland Metro Arts Music and Theatre Departments

2025-26 Season

Winter in the Willows

What happens when your favorite Willows friends – Toad, Badger, Rat, and Mole – must not only prepare for Winter, but also an important visit from Mole’s extended family? Yes, it seems Mole’s grandmother has heard all about Mr. Toad’s dangerous exploits and poor behavior and is due to arrive any minute to see what is going on for herself! And what about those dastardly Weasels? Chances are they are up to no good again, just waiting for an opportunity to get back into Toad Hall!

The musical stylings of Sir Arthur Sullivan, of Gilbert and Sullivan fame, underscore the humorous situations and confusion that follow as our characters try to balance their responsibility to their family and their friends. Our original script – from our own alum Miriam Kilian – is based on the much-loved characters and world first brought to life by author Kenneth Grahame in 1908. This lovely tale is sure to be a fun, live theatre experience for audiences of all ages!
